Acoustic Modeling
An acoustic modeling design project for rooms of all sizes involves creating a 3d acoustical design model that optimizes sound quality, proper coverage and speech intelligibility (clarity) in a specific environment. Within the 3d project, different brands/models of loudspeakers and/or acoustic materials can be tested to accurately predict the outcome of such deployment of these items. The specific materials and loudspeakers are accurately measured and then deployed within the model to view/manage sound reflections and absorption. This process includes careful planning and engineering to ensure the loudspeakers deliver high intelligibility audio while minimizing unwanted room issues. Terms such as Alcons (Articulation Loss of Consonants), STI (Speech transmission index), Direct and Total sound coverage mapping, Ray Tracing reflections are used to define overall performance and speech intelligibility in an acoustical space (room).
